OLD TESTAMENT

I

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

II

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

III

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

IV

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I

Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Matthew 4:10

Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:31 They … rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. Luke 23:56

SABBATH IN THE NEW EARTH

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.  Isaiah 66:22, 23

A Doctrinal Catechism, (Catholic) page 174, has the following question and answer: —

“Q. – Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?”

“A. – Had she not such power . . .  she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.”

“HIS NAME”

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the NAME of the beast, or the number of HIS NAME. Revelation 13:17

“What are the letters supposed to be in the Pope’s crown, and what do they signify, if anything?

“The letters inscribed in the Pope’s miter are these: VICARIUS FILII DEI, which is the Latin for ‘VICAR OF THE SON OF GOD.’ Catholics hold that the church, which is a visible society, must have a visible head. Christ, before His ascension into heaven, appointed St. Peter to act as His representative. ... “HIS CHALLENGE”

“Reason and sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives; either Protestantism and the keeping holy of Saturday or Catholicity and the keeping holy of Sunday. Compromise is impossible.” Cardinal Gibbons in Catholic Mirror, Dec. 23, 1893.

“HIS NUMBER”

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding COUNT THE NUMBER of the beast: for it is the NUMBER OF A MAN; and HIS NUMBER is SIX HUNDRED THREESCORE AND SIX. Revelation 13:18

One of the Pope's titles is Vicarius Fili Dei, which means Vicar of the Son of God. Its numerical equivalent is 666.

The Greek expression Latenios, (Latin manor church) also has a numerical equivalent of 666.

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who WORSHIP the BEAST and HIS IMAGE, and whosoever receiveth the MARK OF HIS NAME. “HIS MARK”

“If any MAN WORSHIP the BEAST and HIS IMAGE, and receive HIS MARK in his forehead, [affections] or in his hand [actions].” (Revelation 14:9; See also Ecclesiastes 9:10; Romans 7:25)

“The OBSERVANCE of SUNDAY by the Protestants is an HOMAGE THEY PAY in spite of themselves to the AUTHORITY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.” Plain Talk for Protestants, page 213.

“Ques.—How prove you that the church hath power to command feasts and holy days?

“Ans.—By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of, and therefore they fondly contradict themselves by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other Feasts commanded by the same church.”

“Ques.—How prove you that?

“Answer—Because by keeping Sunday they acknowledge the church’s power to ordain feasts, and to command them under sin.” Douay Catechism, p. 59.

“If the Bible is the only guide for the Christian then the Seventh-day Adventist is right, in observing the Saturday with the Jew. ... Is it not strange, that those who make the Bible their only teacher, should inconsistently follow in this matter the tradition of the Catholic Church?” Question Box, 1915 Ed., p. 179.

“The Catholic Church for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant, by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday.” Catholic Mirror, Sept., 1893.

“HIS IMAGE”

“WE hereby agree ... that such Sabbath (Sunday) observance laws for the District of Columbia may be looked upon not only as model Sabbath observance laws for America, but as model Sabbath observance laws for the rest of the world.” Christian Statesman, Sept., 1927.

“We insist upon the challenge,‘All must rest, that all may.’ We stand by the battle cry, ‘No special privileges and no seventh day subsidy.’ If the Sabbath (Sunday) laws need adjusting to ‘works of necessity’ of the twentieth century, we will alter and adjust them ourselves.” Christian Statesman, March, 1927.
