A lovely Sabbath dawned in West Virginia, and many headed for the Smyrna Chapel to worship together.

Sabbath School began with prayer and a song service that was shared by those in the chapel, as well as by those in our Internet classroom and on our phone conference. We invite you to join us for song service at 9:15 a.m. EDT, if you are not attending a local Sabbath School, by utilizing either of these resources. Please see below for directions in connecting. Our Sabbath School then divided into adult and youth divisions. Sister Ann Ford shared a devotional with the adults on the importance of each of us individually searching our own hearts, taken from The Upward Look, page 157, and Brother Leon Holt led the adults in their study of diet, focusing on Daniel 1.

The youth’s Sabbath School began with prayer, and then Pastor Allen Stump shared a science demonstration on curdling milk with vinegar, applying this to us as Christians that just was we cannot separate the curds from the whey and still have milk, we cannot separate the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5) and say we have the fruit of the spirit when any one piece is missing. A nature lesson was shared about elephants and whales and how they appear to drink water through their trunks or spray water through their blow holes, but really do not, and applied this concept to us. We also cannot breathe and drink through the same canal and likewise, we cannot absorb truth and error together and stay alive. The youth lesson study focused on King Asa and King Josiah You may view the slide presentations for the youth Sabbath School here.

Another promise parents may claim is found in Deuteronomy 12:28: Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

The Worship Hour began with prayer, a hymn of praise, and intercessory prayer, and then Pastor Allen Stump shared the encouraging message of the hour entitled “Giving All to God.” You may listen to this message of counsel here. The slides for the presentation are here.

Following church services, the Smyrna group went to Grandview Park, part of the New River Gorge National River, for an enjoyable picnic. It was a clear, beautiful day, the rhododendron were in full bloom, and the fresh air and fellowship were a blessing to all.

May God richly bless you in the coming week, as you seek for a closer walk with him.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 2
