Sabbath, May 26, 2012

What a beautiful Sabbath this day was, and we are thankful for each one who shared it with us. Our Sabbath school began with prayer and song service, and then we divided for youth and adult services. The adults continued their study of the terms used in the interpretation of prophecy, and the youth’s lesson focused on the beginning our health and educational work. A science demonstration on the weight of air, as referred to in Job 28:25, was presented (video can be viewed below -- slides from the science demonstration can be seen here), a slideshow introduction to the lesson was next reviewed (seen here), and then the lesson itself was discussed, focusing on James White’s illness in 1865, his visit to Jackson Sanatorium, and the vision given Ellen White in Rochester, New York, on their way home from the sanatorium. You may view the slideshow for the lesson here. An audio recording of the class is available here.

The Worship Hour also began with prayer and then the hymn “All Hail the Power of Jesus Name.” After sharing prayer requests, Brother Leon Holt led the congregation in intercessory prayer. Sister Elyssa Sims shared a children’s story about God’s protection for her and her family and about the blessings, large and small, for which we should be thankful.

Pastor Allen Stump next shared Part 3 of an important series on the divine nature. You may hear this sermon and the story by clicking here, and you may view the accompanying slideshow presentation here. Our service closed with a hymn and with prayer.

We invite you to join our youth Sabbath school and our worship hour each Sabbath morning, starting at 9:40 EST, as well as prayer meeting Wednesday evenings at 7:00. You may join us by telephone conferencing or through an Internet classroom. For the telephone, dial 1-218-936-7999 and, when prompted, room number 755896.
