Not just any assembly constitutes God’s true church.

Axiom of truth declared by former General Conference
President Neal C. Wilson

Martin Luther spoke about those with “weak consciences”
as good people born under the pope who are used to the
way that things are in the papal church but who are
terrified of changes.

Sabbath, August 27, 2011

Our Sabbath day was cheerful and bright, and we hope the same for you. Sabbath School began with prayer and song service, followed by a devotional by Brother Ed Cyrus. The adult Sabbath School lesson was led by Brother Leon Holt, and we continued our study in Revelation 17. The Junior Sabbath School class studied the work of Paul and Barnabas in Antioch and their missionary trip to Cyprus, Perga, Pisidian Antioch, Iconium, Lystra (where Paul was stoned), and Derbe. On their return loop they also visited Attalia before setting sail for Antioch in Syria.

Our Worship Service began with prayer and a scripture reading from Psalm 40:1-10. The congregation sang the hymn “There Was One Who Was Willing” which was followed by intercessory prayer after prayer requests were shared.

Sister Onycha Holt then shared the true story of Jumbo the elephant. This story taught the need of the watchman to stay at his post of duty. You may listen to this story by clicking here.

Pastor Allen Stump presented Part 1 of a relevant series on what constitutes the church. You may listen to the sermon by clicking here and click here for the PowerPoint slides for the references he used. The service closed with the hymn “The Church Has One Foundation” and prayer.

We pray that God will be very close to you during the coming week and that Christ will “dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God” (Ephesians 3:17-19).
