Sabbath September 27, 2008--Links to Prior Reports

Our Sabbath at Smyrna Chapel on September 27 was very lovely. Sabbath School began with prayer by Leon Holt who then led us in a song service. Pastor Allen Stump shared a few thoughts on inspirational people from the Bible and then shared that Brother Glen Ford had been the one man he had personally known to have inspired him to want to be a better Christian.

Brother Leon Holt had the Sabbath school lesson which covered a variety of subjects ranging from the Sabbath to the chemical fluoride and its effects upon the body.

In the children’s Sabbath school class, Matthew 13 was studied discussing the short parables in this wonderful chapter. The countries we are remembering in prayer this week are Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, and Ghana.

Our Worship Service began with prayer and a congregational hymn “The Lord is My Shepherd.” Following a children’s story by Sister Elaine Nailing. Pastor Allen Stump shared the message from God’s Word entitled, “To Dare Mighty Things.” Our God is the Almighty and nothing is too hard for him and so he enables us to do great and mighty things. The service was closed with the song, “Soldiers of Christ, Arise.”

Pastor Stump’s sermon can be heard over the phone or the Internet. You may hear it on your phone by dialing 1-605-475-8599 and entering the conference ID of 5126052 when prompted. The reference number for the audio version of his sermon is 185003. You may hear it now by clicking on this reference link 185003. If your system does not begin playing it or has trouble (Windows Media Player is sometimes finicky), you may also right click on the reference links and choose “save target as.” Then save the file to your hard drive for playback through Windows Media Player or any similar sound player.

Sabbath was a happy but also had a sad element. We learned that Brother Jon Marihugh was hired as an electrical inspector in Michigan. We had prayed for God’s will to be done in this matter and so we were happy that he now has a job that allows him to be home each night. But we are sad that he and Ivelisse, Josiah, Elizabeth, and Maggie will be leaving this week. Please pray for Jon's family as they return to Michigan for both work and sharing.

May God richly bless you this week and we hope to meet with all of you who can at our Prayer Meeting service on October 1 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
