Attributes of the Father

God’s Word is Credible

What God says will come to pass.

Matthew 5:18: “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

Isaiah 55:11: “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

God cannot lie about His promises; and yes, His words will accomplish His desires.

Titus 1:2: “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:” (Hebrews 6:18)

2 Corinthians 13:1: “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” God’s words are repeated accurately throughout the Bible by different individuals. Scripture is to be compared line upon line. This ensures two or three prophets confirming the word of God.

Isaiah 28:10: “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” By doing this, we receive the refreshing that God knows we must have.

God The Father Loves the World

John 3:16: “For God [the Father] so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I John 4:9: “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God [the Father] sent his only begotten Son [Christ] into the world, that we might live through him.”

John 16:27: “For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me [Christ], and have believed that I came out from God.”

God the Father is Invisible and Immortal

Immortal means being unable to die or not subject to death. John 5:37 states: “And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.” Christ is referring to the Father, the invisible God.

1 Timothy 6:15, 16: “Which in his times he [Christ] shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”

1 Timothy 1:17: “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Christ was visible to the people and He also died, two things which never happened to the Father.

God the Father is Our Teacher

John 8:26-28: “I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.” Christ makes it very clear who taught Him.

John 15:15: “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”

John 6:45, 46: “It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.”

God Said an Idol is Nothing

1 Corinthians 8:4-7: “... an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us [God’s people] there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ [the Son], by whom are all things, and we by him. Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge.…”

Those who have more than one god do not know the truth about the only true God. Moses knew this truth and he shared it with Israel.

Deuteronomy 6:14: “Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you.”

Acts 17:29, 30: “Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”

Ephesians 4:6: “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

John 17:3: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

For us to have eternal life we need to know the Father and the Son who provided a sacrifice for us, something an idol cannot do.

God the Father is Our Saviour

1 Timothy 4:10: “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”

1 Timothy 2:3, 4: “... God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

1 Timothy 1:1: “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope.”

Titus 1:3: “But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour.” The Father also gave to the Son the work of being a Saviour to the world.

1 John 4:14: “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.”

John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Through Christ we find our way to the Father.

1 Peter 2:21: “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:”

Romans 15:6: “That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Every one of us should speak the same truth about the Father.
